The news that Russia is spending more on the war in Ukraine than 80% of its regions do in an entire year is alarming for all of us, Ukrainians. According to The Moscow Times, Russia plans to allocate 13.2 trillion rubles (around $95.4 billion) for military spending in 2025. This means that daily, Russia will be spending 38 billion rubles or nearly $275 million on the war.
For us, this is a disturbing signal. Such a massive increase in military expenditures shows that Russia has no intention of reducing its military pressure on Ukraine. Moreover, it indicates that the enemy is preparing for long-term actions, building up resources for prolonged fighting.
The more funds Russia invests in continuing the war, the harder our path to peace and independence becomes. Increased military budgets mean we will face even fiercer battles, intensified attacks, and new weaponry from the enemy. This creates additional challenges for our military and makes civilian life harder, increasing the risk of destruction and civilian casualties.
It is crucial to understand that Russia’s spending poses not only a direct threat on the battlefield but also has political implications. Russia will likely use its resources to exert pressure on the international community, continuing to fuel conflicts and destabilize the region.
However, despite these terrifying figures, we remain strong. We have proven our resilience and our ability to stand up to even the toughest challenges. Each one of us continues to fight for freedom, justice, and Ukraine’s future. It is vital to keep strengthening our military, boosting international support, and believing in victory. 2025 will be another test for us, but with our unity and determination, we will face it with honor. 🇺🇦💪
